The Shell
The Z Drums solid wood stave shells are handmade, Free‑Floating stave snare drums made of locally sourced wood and hand-picked for quality and correct size. This reduces waste to a minimum. Every shell is made up of 18 staves and is cut with precision. The minimum thickness of the source wood is only 20mm, which reduces the cost of the source material. The maximum depth of the shell is 7 inches. The overall thickness of the finished shells is 12mm. The exact diameter of each shell is mentioned on the product page. Your shell can be made to order.
The Ring
The Z Drums Hardware chassis ring is made from 1.2mm sheet metal. The holes and patterns are laser cut for a precise lineup with the holes of the 8 lug hoops. The tube lugs are made in-house to fit the ring perfectly and give the maximum depth for the tension bolts. The rings can be made to order in the color of your choice. The hardware ring can also be used for your existing snare drum shell.
The Snare
The Z Drums fully free-floating snare is the ultimate combination of a stave shell with the hardware ring chassis, built for the best sound possible. Even though these snares appear very different, they are not designed solely to look different. The extravagant ring is all function; it holds all the hardware, leaving only the heads to touch the shell. This also makes bottom head changes possible without removing the snare wires, and even the bottom hoop. Just remove the top hoop and head, lift out the shell, and you can lift out the bottom head (from the inside). Finally, tuning of these snares is the easiest ever, and it is almost impossible for them to sound bad or out of tune.
Stealth Series Snare
The Z Drums Stealth series would not be a Zrour version of a snare if it was not a free-floating snare. Although the single point tube lugs are attached to the shell, these are moified, or custom made so the tube can be released from the base from the outside. After normal tuning, you can release the tube from the base with a hex key, and enjoy the pleasures of a floating snare. The Z drums tube lugs can be bought seperate for use on your own snare.
